1966 Batman TV Theme Stereo LP 20th Fox IN SHRINK WRAP

With its full color photo cover, this US issue Stereo copy of the 20th Century Fox LP #TFS-4190, the "Exclusive Original Television Soundtrack Album," was a mass produced commodity to capitalize on the global fad of Batmania in 1966 caused by the ABC TV show that starred Adam West, Burt Ward and, arguably, the fantastic George Barris styled Batmobile. Both of the costumed leads, as well as that famous crime-fighting car are all depicted on the cover. Featuring a rendition of the actual TV Batman Theme, plus eleven other Batman episode background songs, the LP was conducted by Nelson Riddle, the author of the theme song. On the rear cover, it even notes the episodes in which each of the songs appeared. But the LP is otherwise notable because it contains actual audio clips right from the TV show that include the Riddler, Penguin, Mr. Freeze and Zelda. Naturally, the record is fully licensed by National Periodical Publications, too. This is guaranteed to be the original 1966 release and not one of the 1989 reissue imports!!

The record was released in many different variations, but one fact is irrefutable. In 1966, stereo was still a novelty medium, although it was quickly gaining popularity. There were physical differences in the configuration of the record's groove walls that make stereo records unplayable on mono turntables. That, plus the fact that stereo records were typically almost $1.00 more expensive, means that compared to their mono counterparts, stereo editions were printed in much smaller ratios, by as much as 20 to 1. As mentioned, this cover and the disc are available in as many as 15 different configurations. This copy has the variation with all yellow print on the cover. Note that the stereo covers have the front litho shifted down slightly to reveal the "STEREO" oval at the top right.

Our example for auction here is one of these rarer stereo copies and is in as good condition as can be found now, forty years later. It is not still sealed, but is still within the original factory shrink-wrapping! Both the cover and the disc are virtually like new and NM- at the worst. Only a tiny 1/8" diameter drill hole at the bottom left corner mars the condition. All the corners are nice and straight with just the slightest bump at the upper right. There is no other damage to the cover. Inside, the black and gold label disc appears to have never been played and is all but perfect within the original plain paper dust sleeve.

If you want near perfection in your collection, this is it. Only a sealed copy would beat it, but then, you can't play a sealed copy. We present this classic soundtrack record with a reasonable Reserve. Please do not ask us to close the auction early, sell the item outright or reveal our Reserve, as these are requests we cannot accommodate.

Payment: Payment is expected within 10 (ten) days of notification by OUR initial email. We do not use the eBay checkout system - ignore all checkout procedures other than our email. Please wait for our Invoice before contacting us or remitting any payments. We Invoice the day after the auctions close, but some customers, especially AOL users have been experiencing difficulty in receiving our emailed Invoices. Postal or Bank Money Orders or Certified Checks (not a Teller’s or Bank check) preferred. Personal, business or non-Certified checks are accepted but can take up to three weeks to clear before shipment of item. We accept credit card payments only through PayPal for US bidders only. Non-US buyers must pay only by US$ Cash sent registered, Money Order Payable in US$ or PayPal (only when NOT funded by a Credit Card).

Shipping: Actual freight and mandatory insurance costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. No item over $15 in value is sent without full insurance, for our mutual protection. Most all parcels are sent by US Priority Mail service, which allows us to utilize USPS provided materials at no cost and pass these savings along to our customers. We do not bill any other shipping or handling charges except the actual shipping expenses if sent by Priority Mail. Parcels too large or bulky for Priority will be sent by either UPS, Airborne or FedEx and may incur additional packaging costs which will ALWAYS be stated in the ad description. Foreign orders will incur significantly higher postage and are sent WITHOUT insurance (your risk!). All foreign parcels will be declared as "Merchandise" on the Customs tag, declared for the purchase amount.

Returns: Please be mindful that many of our items are consignment pieces from various sources. We take great pains to describe all of our items in explicit detail. For these reasons, all sales are final and returns are granted only in cases of our gross misrepresentation! Any claims for return must be made within seven (7) days of receipt. No refunds given for incoming or outgoing freight costs.
