Sound Quality Ratings:

 NM

Reggae Rat typically does not come across vinyl in perfect condition.  You have to understand that these records have been through a rough life.  They've probably seen a few hurricanes.  Lots of dust.  Perfect condition is very rare.  

 EX

Vinyl is in exceptionally great condition and overall listening quality is superb. 

 VG+

Records show some slight signs of wear, slight warps, and/or light scuffs or scratches that do not affect the listening experience.   There may be some very light ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable.  The label is in good shape.  This grade is what Reggae Rat likes to call the most perfect play you'll reasonably find anywhere.  Maybe a crackle here and there, but is otherwise a perfect play.  

 VG

Imperfections are more obvious on a VG record.  They lack most of the original gloss found on factory-fresh records. Groove wear is evident on sight, as are light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail.  When played, a VG record has surface noise, and some scratches may be audible, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and ending, but the noise won’t overpower the music otherwise. There could be minor writing, tape or a sticker on the label.  Reggae Rat thinks of this grade as highly listenable.  It has a little too much surface noise to be considered a VG+,  but still has solid play quality throughout.

 VG-

These are the tunes that Reggae Rat still thinks have solid play quality, but a little more surface noise than a VG.  

 G

Reggae Rat does not like G records.  They do not skip, but they have other imperfections that affect the play quality.  Reggae Rat will never list G records individually.  Look out for Bargain-Batch-G listings if you're interested in records of this quality.
