1966 Pucho Latin Soul Jazz Boogaloo 45 (Aye Ma Ma b/w What a Piece)
Pucho – “Aye Ma” Ma b/w “What a Piece” (Prestige 436). Great early 1966 release by Henry “Pucho” Brown, an African American musician from Harlem. Pucho began recording in 1963, and really hit his stride between 1966 and 1970, when he cut over half a dozen albums for Prestige. On these he helped pioneer a style termed Latin boogaloo, which mixed jazz, New York-style Latin music, R&B/soul, and the sort of funk that was just emerging from James Brown and other performers. This 45 features two cuts drawn form the LP by Pucho and His Latin Soul Brothers entitled, “Tough.” Record is in nice VG condition (has a piece of paper tape on one label and the word “Inst” written on the flip label). Postage will be paid by purchaser.
