Original first pressing VINYL of the classic 1966 garage great straight from the happening days of the Sunset Strip Hollywood California scene ...Along with The Seeds, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Love, and The Grassroots, the LEAVES were one of the figurehead bands having just attained high status with their smash hit, the thrilling hard fuzz-punk version of 'Hey Joe' which inspired garage bands across the lands...as well, the Leaves were giving rousing performances at the happaning Sunset Strip clubds, their future looked bright...
This is one hell of a debut album, especially for a group that only lasted for about a year after its release. The Leaves perform some superb garagey folk-rock in a Byrds/Beatles vein ("Just a Moment," "Girl From the East"), excellent lyrical garage punk ("Words," "Tobacco Road"), and solid hard rock ("Hey Joe," "Too Many People"), and cross swords with the Rolling Stones ("You Better Move On," "Back On the Avenue" — the latter a take of the Stones' "2120 South Michigan Avenue") and Bob Dylan ("Love Minus Zero"). The sound isn't exactly consistent, given the gamut of influences at work here, from Bo Diddley ("Dr. Stone") to primitive psychedelia ("War of Distortion"), but there isn't a bad song on the album, and the original MIRA label vinyl has about the best sound ever heard on this material, bringing out the guitars in a genuinely crisp and vivid fashion -- throw away the dull cd reissue kids. Maybe the strangest and best track in that regard is their cover of "He Was a Friend of Mine," which incorporates elements of both the Searchers' "When You Walk In the Room" and the Byrds' "I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better" into its structure and beat — the guitars are a real kick there.
Anyone who enjoyed the first two Byrds albums must own this album.

CONDITION: The cover: front cover is still vivid & bright "EX" (excellent), back cover has some aged appearance to the white boarders surrounding the group photographs, but light, so should not distract, unless real picky. All seams are still solid and everything else remains sharp.
The vinyl is clean -- no scratches, has only a couple light superficial scuff hairlines, so no problem with appearance, and should provide as a nice collectible from 42+ years ago in the heighth of the swingin' Sunset Strip scene !
