1965 1st Plum deep Grooved labels Decca pressed Stereo VICS1104 Reiner & the CSO in the R. Strauss Sinfonia Domestica. Nice lowest 1K1K stampers, telling us this is mastered by Tony Hawkins from the raw 1st generation US RCA reels. This really ought to get my fellow audiophiles excited, as it is two valve neumann mikes recording, cut on the latest mid sixties valve Neumann lathe by an engineer who knew his stuff. That means that there is more of the music on this lp than on the living stereo 1st press, because the difference in technology allowed for a greater sonic bandwidth with the next generation machine. The decca vinyl is a lovely black background to the music, less noisy than the US RCA's, and this is a transfer from when the tapes are at most 11 years old, unlike the various recent audiophile reissues which are 50+ years old when the tapes are hammered. Possibly the best issue of this Reiner gem?
A nice low plays pressing in fabulous playback sound, grading near mint.
A near mint record in a mint minus sleeve, just the 1st year purchase date added as a note of when obtained.
