Description
This auction is for "MOD IS....THE BRITISH MODBEATS", an LP by THE BRITISH
MODBEATS, a Canadian band from St. Catharines, Ontario. They formed in 1963 as
The Lintels. With British-born singer Fraser Loveman in the group, they were well aware
of the mod and beat scene back in England. In 1964, they became THE MODBEATS,
leading the way in adopting the paisley shirts, bell-bottom pants, long hair, and boots
being worn by the British. When they were ready to record this debut album, RED LEAF
RECORDS had them rename the band as THE BRITISH MODBEATS to take advantage
of the popularity of the British Invasion, even though the other members were Canadian.
They became very popular and were the first Mod band in Canada. I saw them numerous
times at the St. Nick's dances in east Hamilton during my teen years.
Band members are Fraser Loveman (vocals), Rob Jeffrey (leader and drummer), Greig
Foster (lead guitar), Joe Colonna (bass), and Mike Corgichuk (rhythm guitar).
The album was recorded at Hallmark Studios in Toronto on the RED LEAF RECORDS
label RED 1002, 1967.
Extremely Rare--hard to find.
The cover is VG+...a little dirty with light shelfwear--no split or torn seams, holes or writing.
The labels are VG+ with spindle marks, slight wear.
The vinyl is VG visually, with numerous light surface scuffs, nothing deep. No skips, but
some background static.
