Description
This is an ultra rare 45 rpm record by Montreal band M.G. and the Escorts featuring “Someday Fool” on one side and “It’s Too Late” on the other. The record was released in January 1967 on the Reo label, number 8975. I’ve inspected the record with a flashlight and also play graded it. Visually, it is worn and one might think it to be a VG copy, but listening to it, the pressing is loud and the music covers almost all background noise - I heard some grish at the beginning of A Someday Fool during the guitar intro, but after that, there was a hint of a tic once or twice, but this was covered by the music - a solid copy. The original owner wrote her name multiple times on the label. Description
This is an ultra rare 45 rpm record by Montreal band M.G. and the Escorts featuring “Someday Fool” on one side and “It’s Too Late” on the other. The record was released in January 1967 on the Reo label, number 8975. It was the third of four singles released by M.G. and the Escorts, and features a sound that many garage bands aspired to. Someday Fool features a steady drumbeat with a repetitive fuzz guitar riff and insistent vocals.
M.G. and the Escorts were formed in Pointe Claire, a suburb of Montreal, during the mid-sixties and played local dances, TV, Battles of the Bands and other events. They consisted of Glenn Grecco, Glen Stephen, Bill Bryans, Mike Gauthier and Graham Powers. They disbanded in late 1967 - Bill Bryans went on to play in the 80s band The Parachute Club. MG was Mike Gauthier, who left the rock world to become a jazz guitarist. I had the pleasure of playing with him a few times during the 70s, and actually asked about the Escorts, but he didn’t want to talk about it - I guess that he had given up rock music for jazz and didn’t want to be associated with his previous work.

The record has been cleaned with the Disc Doctor’s Miracle Record Cleaner.
This 45 is very difficult to find and is offered on the market only occasionally - it was by a local band, so probably didn’t get wide distribution. It is a great addition to a Canadian 60s garage band collection - killer psych rock garage tracks!
