• Mike Bloomfield and the Electric Flag who were commissioned by Peter Fonda & Jack Nicholson to perform the soundtrack music to this acid film... these are non-Lp tracks by the Electric Flag, found only on this rare soundtrack ...  
  
  One of the greatest 60's hipster film soundtracks ever! This moves through some light and dark psych moves with a complex instrumentations in places. The second side contains some really cool strip joint Psych. With moog work from Paul Beaver, it shows the Flag did have at least one foot in the psych pool, and they didn't even need a fuzzbox to fry your skull.........
  
  The first idea to make the film came from Peter Fonda and Jack Nicholson (who wrote the script). About a guy (Peter Fonda) who decides to take a trip and goes to a LSD guru to help him do it. He ends up running away and have a trip in the middle of the town.
  
  "Peter's Trip" opens the album, it's a great song, very groovy. It has a great melody and the music is very well played. Followed by "Psyche Soap" which was made in the fashion of old radio advertisements, with some nice lyrics. "M-23" is quite beautiful, very calm with some weird sounds in the back and a slow moving guitar solo. While violin's are not a common instrument in rock music, "Synesthesia"'s main interest is the sad violin that cries throughout the song. "Hobbit" is the part where the black riders appear during the movie. Thats a nice scene, and the music is weird, and trippy. "Green & Gold" guitar work is really good, Michael Bloomfield is a great guitarist. "Flash' Bam' Pow'", features insane synthesizer and powerful drum beats. Soon after Fonda runs away he enters a bar and the band is playing this "Practice Music", the main focus of the song is Bloomfield guitar again. "Fine Jug Thing" is the longest song in the album reaching 7 minutes, and is an awesome jam.
