We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.
We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday. We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.

Collectible 1967 first pressing...the Monkees answer to The Beatles SGT PEPPER, filled with grooovy psychedelic moves and the tracks, so surprisingly hip & cool with infectious melodies, acidy sound effects & enhancements, flowing melodious cool, all by the manufactured Monkees who 'let down their hair' on this one, maybe smoked a little dope and let the grooves fly free ... don't be scared(!!) ~~ one to add to your library !
in silver foil cover ...silver foil covers from the sixties are almost always found with wear and scuffs to the foil, this one has some light wear, otherise solid (see condition details below)...
The name seems to be a sort of joke. The Beatles had released the film "HELP", and the physical beginning of a movie is called the "HEAD". "Head" is actually written on the beginnings of every reel of film produced just as "Tail" is written on the ends. A similar joke can be seen later in the movie - when they are playing a concert, you can see the word "Drum" on their drums instead of "Monkees". Additionally, a "head trip" was a common term in the late sixties, and this can also part of the joke. In 60s and 70s slang, "head" meant someone who used psychedelic drugs, as in "pot head," and "acid head." The name is also suggestive of oral sex. It is rumored that the title was chosen in the case of a sequel being produced, where it would be advertised as coming from the filmmakers who "gave you 'Head'"
This original issue of the record features a front cover made with a special material called aluminized PET film, meant to reflect the listener's "head" (face) back at them. With the movie having only a limited release (and virtually no publicity), the point was largely lost, and while the cover was innovative for its time, manufacturing was problematic; Micky Dolenz recalled years later that the cover was "actually ruining the printing presses at RCA!" ... The 1980s reissue from Rhino Records was less problematic by using foil paper instead, the end result less reflective than the original. The presently in-print CD from Rhino has a grey cover that is not reflective at all.
Showing the growing influence of Frank Zappa on the Monkees' circle (Zappa even has a cameo role as "The Critic" in the film itself), the soundtrack album intersperses the six trippy melodies ("Porpoise Song," "Circle Sky," "Can You Dig It?," "As We Go Along," "Daddy's Song" and "Long Title: Do I Have To Do This All Over Again?") with bits of Ken Thorne's incidental music, dialogue fragments and oddball sound effects, for an overall effect surprisingly close to Zappa's "Lumpy Gravy."
The selection of music and dialogue approximates the flow of the movie itself, and was compiled by actor Jack Nicholson, who cowrote the film's shooting script. Nicholson recalled in Monkee Mania how he observed Michael Nesmith working on the album in the studio, asked if he could try some editing, and Nesmith let Nicholson take over the session, because "I just want to go home!".

CONDITION: The silver has only some light scuffing to the silver foil, VG++ and otherwise a perfectly flat, square with sharp corners original...
The vinyl is "VG++" some, a few little hairthin scuffs, plays enjoyable...all told, a rare 42 year old original collectible that is highly entertaining in its form of psychedelic-laced Monkees...at their best!
