On January 19, 1946, there was a little girl born in Sevier County, Tennessee. She was one of twelve children. Her name —Dolly Parton. Born with a God-given talent to sing and write with all her heart and soul, Dolly “wrote” her first song at the age of five —rather she told it to her mother, who wrote it down for her. Dolly sang this song to me not long ago and it seemed almost unbelievable that a child five years old could have com- posed such a song. Since then she has written many, many fine songs —some you will hear in this album. Dolly is the most tal- ented, dedicated person I have ever met in show business. It is my very distinct pleasure to introduce Dolly each week on my syndicated television show and also on my many personal appearances.
