LOCAL L.A. CALIFORNIA GARAGE BLUES COOKER

"GET IT ON"

   PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC

\                                                     USA - KENT RECORDS -P-701

BEAUTIFIUL MINT 1968 ORIGINAL ...one of the *BEST* copies found ...harder to find like this than you think!

1968 FIRST PRESSING on the local Los Angeles KENT RECORD label BEFORE the band was signed to "Columbia Records" with Columbia basically using the same gatefold cover design and only changing it to their label, and issuing it on the 360 Sound label...finding a copy of the local first pressing KENT RECORDS is quite difficult being such a small localized California release with very little distributorship of the product.

ORIGINAL UNCENSORED FRONT COVER ...later issues covered (with small dress) the nude female on front cover ...here, the original issue = in full glory!

In 1968, the band name was shortened to "Pacific Gas & Electric" (From Pacific Gas And Electric Blues Band), and included Allen, Cook, Marshall, Block, and guitarist Glenn Schwartz (also of James Gang and All Saved Freak Band). They released their first album, Get It On, that year on the BRIGHT ORANGE record label. Although it only reached #159 on the album charts because, again, no distribution, [but]someone at Columbia Records was listening, as they signed the band to a recording contract shortly after their appearance at the Miami Pop Festival in December of 1968. It's an energetic rocker which varies with steamy melodics, singer Charlie Allen struts up a storm, but not in a show business way, rather than straight from the soul, while the tight rhythms enhance the electrified sound. The drummer for the first CANNED HEAT LP (Frank Cook) supplies the backbeat. From Los Angeles California, 1969, Get It On with Pacific Gas And Electric...
