Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP $4.00 Media; 2-4 discs $5.00; .50 each additional disc Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   CANADA ~ 1 LP 8.50; 2 discs $10.00; 3 discs $11.50; over 4 please contact us for shipping costs.   AUSTRALIA, THAILAND, JAPAN ~ 1 LP $18.00; 2 discs $23.00; 3 discs $27.00; 4 discs $32.00.   CLEAN VINYL   Scarce to be found clean... 1968 first pressing vinyl on the steamboat Reprise label and the second great WestCoastPopArtExperimentalBand album filled with cool melodic psychpop flavors amid plenty of echo, reverb and fuzz ..

If a band could ever be called a psychedelic group, the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band fit the bill. This somewhat mysterious crew issued 4 albums in the late '60s that plugged into the era's myriad of folk-rock, psych-pop, freakouts, and trippy lyrics establishing a solid identity of their own. One that collectors rate at the top of the heap some 40+ years later... There are few groups as enigmatic, as mysterious as The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. The prime mover in the band was Bob Markley, born in Oklahoma and the son of an oil tycoon. He moved to Los Angeles early in the 1960's. With the release of the group's second album 'Vol 2', Markley's hold on the group was obviously completed and the air of anonymity removed. The WCPAEB was clearly seen as a trio, with photographs on both the front and back sleeves. Alongside Markley were the Harris brothers. The album includes a bunch of gems. "Smell of Incense" is particularly strong with great instrumentation. Released as a single (in a cut-up and remix version), it was the hit the group never had; They were curiously beaten by a cover version by the Southwest F.O.B., who reached no.56 a few months later. The first track, IN THE ARENA is most excellent - very vibrating love scene, super guitar, super licks. "Tracy Had a Hard Sunday" is very recommended if you have good taste for great original psych. Always an interesting band that can define a genre and a sound and a kind of promise of fun and silvery mystery that is always just a little bit further out in a kind of very American psych way. Savagely innocent even if some say it's exploito, it is undoubtedly sweetly magnificent.

CONDITION: The Cover: is solid with strong seams; overall VG+ as with some general light shelf wear = much less than found on most copies, given the dark cover from 42 years ago. Theer is a small inch of rub wear near top right seam (minor). The back cover with group photos is clean VG++ with a spot of rub wear on outer boader next to pocket which is out of the way and does not disctract from the group photos ...all said, still collectible looks...having no split seams, no bends, no writing

The Vinyl: original shine on both sides, clean, near "EX" (excellent) vastly clear and plays enjoyable with no alarming audio problems...the steamboat labels are both CLEAN having a word in ink on both sides, not bad, (see label photo)
