Item:  1968 SIMON & GARFUNKEL - Bookends LP - Columbia KCL 2729 - US MONO w/ Poster

Description/notes:  A rare item here.  Original first US pressing in MONO!  Includes original inner sleeve (toned white) and poster.  Complete as issued.  Scarce as hen's teeth.

I can't easily identify the pressing plant as the runout doesn't have obvious markings for Pitman, Santa Maria, or Terre Haute - so I took many photos of the matrix etchings/printings.  What I can say is the label layout doesn't match any pressing I see in Discogs, as the "KCL 2729" catalog number on the label is higher against the Columbia "eye" than other copies I see.  Also, the title tracks begin level with the lower part of the "eye".  All other versions I've seen have titles beginning BELOW the eye.  Maybe you experts can help me here.

Matrix as I can read:

Side 1:  "fish symbol" XLP 118885-1C-1 I o "(or c)"   "sideways 1"   5 "(or B or P)"

Side 2:  "backward P"  XLP 118886-1C l o "(or c)"  "upside down A or V"  B "(or P)"

Condition:  VG or better throughout.  The cover is the biggest issue, with ring wear on the front.  Back is nicer.  No splits or anything bad, just storage in an LP collection.  Nice VG or better LP with full luster.  No issues, just a bit of play.  (You will be pleased).  The poster looks new at first glance, but has neat pin holes in the four corners.  I'm being ultra-conservative on the grade as I want a very happy buyer.
