ORIGINAL 1968 first pressing vinyl...one of the all-time sunny shine popsych fuzzrock groovers from the sixties...essential infectious flowing harmonies & catchy memorable tunes mixed with some weird and frankly bizarre psychedelic offerings.
The SAC's second LP is their most cohesive. The album divides its time between the psych-ier concerns of the first album ("Nightmare Of Percussion", "Black Butter - Present" [both of which border on psychotic!], "Curse Of The Witches",) courtesy of Randy Seol, and lighter, more radio friendly, but very hip grooves, like "Soft Skies, No Lies", "Tomorrow" (a monster psych nugget and their last top 20 hit), and "Sit With The Guru" (which ends with the same "sha la la" chorus that graced "Incense And Peppermints"). Iron Butterfly was attempting this same mix of light and heavy elements, but couldn't come close to the complexity of the SAC's vocal arrangements, which give much of this album an atmospheric, complex-inspired feel.
The album's highpoint is the cryptic "They Saw The Fat One Coming", a song about a nebulous but ominous force that sounds like a peaking acid trip experience.
Unfortunately, SAC got the same level of respect from UNI that Badfinger got from Apple. After this tour-de-force, the label began to force mundane pop songs down the group's throat. It marked the beginning of a long slide which culminated with Ed King leaving for Lynyrd Skynyrd.
CONDITION: The cover has light ring wear starting on front, much less on back(just a little!), VG+, no seam splits.
The vinyl highly shiny VG++ with only some very light light hair thin faint scuffings, plays like a champ!!!! Very enjoyable!
