Third issue of the Soft Machine's 1968 self-titled debut album without the circular clockwork cut-out front cover with moving parts (leaving a pointless plain green circular space), and non-gatefold so no nude girl inside. Aka "the censored cover". You will see far less of these than the others - either the first issue or any reissues. Still, it's a 1968 album, and as such, has merit. This debut album by the Soft Machine was a wild, freewheeling, and ultimately successful attempt to merge psychedelia with jazz-rock, Soft Machine's debut ranges between lovingly performed oblique pop songs and deranged ensemble playing from drummer/vocalist Robert Wyatt, bassist Kevin Ayers and organist Mike Ratledge.  Like Pink Floyd's debut LP, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," Soft Machine's self-titled debut was one of the few over-ambitious records of the psychedelic era that actually delivered on all its incredible promise.  

The shrinkwrap is torn a little on all corners exposing them to varying degrees. There is also a small punch-hole under the "P" in Probe on the front cover. Shrink is torn a couple of inches at the bottom middle of the rear cover.
