F E V E R T R E E "CREATION" USA ~ UNI RECORDS - 73067 ORIGINAL 1969 first pressing on the old collectible psych bands label "UNI" ... this one, the third release by THE FEVER TREE contains cool fuzzed-psych garage nuggets among melodic tuneful numbers, all in all it rates up there with collectors. An interesting, late-'60s psychedelic group, Houston's Fever Tree (relocated to the San Francisco scene) is most famous for their single "San Francisco Girls," with its dramatic melody, utopian lyrics, and searing fuzz guitar. BUT their pretty, wistful ballads (enhanced on their first album by arranger David Angel, who had also worked on Love's classic Forever Changes) endure just as well as their dirge-like fuzz grinders, which epitomize some of the more generic aspects of heavy psychedelia. Releasing four collectible albums from 1967 thru 1971 ...This, their 1970 third "CREATION" includes guest guitar by future ZZ Top axeman Billy Gibbons, who was, at the time, in the legendary MOVING SIDEWALKS ... the ballad "Wild Woman Ways" has the old Fever Tree spark. Otherwise cool re-make of "Imitation Situation," diamondesque soft psych "Run Past My Window," and fab-tastic haunting fuzzpsych "The Time Is Now".
