Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP $4.00 Media; 2-4 discs $5.00; .50 each additional disc Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   CANADA ~ 1 LP 8.50; 2 discs $10.00; 3 discs $11.50; over 4 please contact us for shipping costs.   AUSTRALIA, THAILAND, JAPAN ~ 1 LP $18.00; 2 discs $23.00; 3 discs $27.00; 4 discs $32.00.     THUNDEROUS HEAVY BLUES-ROCK JAMS

               1969 RARE ORIGINAL

 McKENNA MENDELSON BLUES

          == STINK ==

                   USA - (pink/orange) United Artists - UAS 6729

ORIGINAL 1971 first pressing in THICK gatefold cover on the old pink & orange United Artists label...

Vastly under-estimated ripping heavy bluesrock boogie jammers...no bad cuts here, solid across both sides...these guys made two outstanding collectible albums...here, their second titled STINK is in TOP shape...

This progressive blues outfit operated out of Toronto, Ontario, between 1968-70. They were formed by Mike McKenna (gtr) formerly with the „UGLY DUCKLINGS“, Joe Mendelson (gtr. & voc), Tony Nolasco (drms) and Danie Gerard on bass from The „PAUPERS“ on bass. Having established themselves in Toronto , the band moved to England in 1968 and recorded this, their second and classic album "STINK" during their stay in the UK.

 This album, affectionately titled "STINK" has never been particularly easy to get hold of. Many long-time Stink lovers will be pleasantly surprised by what they hear here.

The grooves on these songs are often stunning - in the middle of "Ramblin' On My Mind" even tough Joe Mendelson can be heard letting out a joyous whelp at the sound he was helping to create.
Mendelson himself plays guitar desperately raw and powerful throughout, and certainly deserved any special recognition that came his way. McKenna of course plays up a storm, but in a somewhat different style than on the better -known Stink.
Here he wrenches notes from his guitar using a harsher tone and some fuzz (listen to "Bad Women" in particular), reflecting the accepted Toronto style of the time; presumably his love for British blues soon pushed all that aside. Denny Gerrard plays it straight for the most part, though in a wonderfully punchy way, but occasionally he unleashes one of his trademark staccato bass runs (not to mention the yodelling bass run on "Bad Sign").
Tony Nolasco, though just a kid in the eyes of the others, does a superb job of holding it all together, and in a funny sort of way sounds to be the true heart of the group. (He also deserves the Charlie Watts award for drum-miking if he did it himself.)

CONDITION: The cover is a thick gatefold and nearly impossible to find clean given the black cover that wears so easily - this copy a winner, even at VG++ having but a 'touch' of small shelf wear barely starting... there is a small delete at top left...otherwise strong and solid all the way...no split seams, no bends, and no writing.

The vinyl is all glossy clean, M- top tated and plays tremendous - this one is a lot of fun... both labels are CLEAN

                keeper copy!

      A GREAT ADDITION  TO ANYONE'S COLLECTIBLES!
