PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Appearing in 1969, and disappearing just as quickly. then some 55 years forward, became a rare sought item of the collectible British psychedelic underground delivering organ and guitar drenched acid-tinged selections... Original pressings are valued at high dollars IF even found at all

A shroud of mystery surrounds this legendary Birmingham psych band, VELVETT FOGG, led by singer-guitarist Paul Eastment (cousin of Black Sabbath's guitarist Tony Iommi and later of The Ghost) - and organist Frank Wilson (founder of Warhorse). Not much is known about VELVETT FOGG, which only made this album in 1969 ~ all the more intriguing thanks to the high quality of music within ... starting with the hypnotic psychedelia of 'Yellow Cave Woman,' and the splendid psych ballad 'Once Among The Trees.' Also noteworthy is the version of 'Come Away Melinda', released a year prior to Uriah Heep's version ...
The initial line-up of Velvett Fogg featured guitarist Tony Iommi (later to make the big time with Black Sabbath).
Yet Velvett Fogg's self-titled #1 album was released on the Pye label in January of 1969. Despite the fact that the band sank without a trace, the VELVETT FOGG album now stands up as a fine example of late 1960s British psychedelia underground rock. As well reviously above mentioned, original compositions such as Yellow Cave Woman and Once Among The Trees are both hypnotic if not compelling. By contrast, other tracks like Lady Caroline and Plastic Man include both homicidal and political overtones respectively.
Overall, Velvett Fogg's (only) LP is truly collection worthy, a classic of British psychedelic music
At it's best it features imaginative guitar and organ workouts combined with quirky and unusual lyrics and the band's versons of 'New York Mining Disaster' and 'Come Away Melinda' adding an eerie tone missing from other similar Lp's.
Velvett Fogg's own originals include the childlike 'Wizard of Gobsolod', the haunting and somewhat dislocated 'Lady Caroline' and the complex workout of 'Owed to the Dip' but the highlight of the album is set by the powerfully doom-laden opener, 'Yellow Cave Woman' the reason of keeping along with the their standout cover
If not convinced take into further thoughts and words by legendary British underground records & D.J. master John Peel who overviews this record, as follows:
"Side One. (Track 1). “Yellow Cave Woman” (7:00). It takes courage to start a first LP with a seven minute track. This gives all the members of the group an opportunity to flex their musical muscles (a spot of clever alliteration for the literary) and reminds slightly of the sort of things the Velvet Underground might do which seem a first hearing and later revealing endless, shifting variations of emphasis and shading.
(2) “New York Mining Disaster 1941″ (2:55). You may disagree but I think the best things the Bee-Gees had written on their first LP. Many people have re-recorded yet seldom bettering (3) “Wizard of Gobsolod” (2:57) has some really beautiful little bell-like noises, explains that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Generally speaking a number of almost hamsterian delicacy and refinement. One of my favorite tracks and I hope one of yours too.
(4) “Once Among t=The Trees” (5:39) is the story of a chase with strong sexual overtones. Stand by for sensational revelations in the Sunday horror-comics. I spend a lot of time listening to new groups because I think that is what disc-jockeys should be doing and it’s rather embarrassing that a group as fine as this has evaded my notice and that of the people who write and tell me about good things. (5) “Lady Caroline” (2:23). I hoped this might be a tribute to the lamented Radio Caroline but it’s not. Actually it’s a sort of modern equivalent of the ancient murder tales from Britain and of the Appalachian region of the United States. A story of seduction, jealousy, murder, pillage and dry-cleaning set in medieval Fulham, England – or something.
Side Two. (Track 1). As listeners to “Top Gear” and such may know Tim Rose is a good friend and one of my favorite singers. He is well-known for “Hey Joe” and the harrowing “Morning Dew”. However this song “Come Away, Melinda” is perhaps the song that is most important to him. Please listen to the lyrics which are self-explanatory and ponder before it’s too late. This version by Velvett Fogg would please Tim too – it’s as strong as his version with underlying electronic sound effects which, for once, blend with the music as effectively as those used by the "United States of America" or the Beatles as in “Yellow Submarine” tracks. Full of lively information and penetrating analysis. (2). “Owed to the Dip”. 1968 seems to have been a year in which the organ, in the hands of certain people seems to have come somewhat more into it’s own. The organ is featured prominently and excitingly on this 6:07 jammer. One of those complex-tinged things that are appearing on LPs now.
(3) is “Within the Night” (4:47) which catalogues the achievements of what would appear to be a rather splendid evening. Sitting in bed typing, with “The Hot Vampire from the Cenapod Planet” blaring out from a flickering, hired television envy bubbles in the recesses of the heart. Medical advice should be sought if it bubbles elsewhere. It is gratifying that record companies in the allegedly United Kingdom should be prepared to launch unknown groups with LPs because groups like Velvett Fogg have more to give listeners than can be imparted by a single 45. Finally there is “Plastic Man” (4:47) which seems to sum up everything that can be said about politicians as revolting parasites. There are no ways left for us to escape them now.
There is a lot of good music on this record, remember Velvett Fogg you will hear the name again."
