Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Released by an off-shoot of the Trademark of Quality label, (a division of RUBBER DUBBER) created by two Los Angeles-based men, Ken and Dub, Great White Wonder was compiled from multiple sources. Sides one and three of Great White Wonder were entirely given over to songs from an informal ninety-minute tape that Dylan recorded in the apartment of Bonnie Beecher in Minneapolis in December 1961. Side two was a miscellany of studio outtakes. However, it was the seven "basement-tape" cuts that filled up the end of side two and all of side four that aroused the greatest interest.
There was a time when you had to whisper to the guy behind the counter at a record store, "Do you carry bootlegs?" By definition, bootlegs were illegal, and Bob Dylan bootlegs were the first hot property.
In 1968, word got out that there was new music by Dylan, recorded with The Band in a basement in upstate New York. What came out in the spring of 1969, however, was Nashville Skyline — a good record, but not the one we'd heard about. Then, in the summer of 1969, FM radio began playing pirated Dylan recordings. The Great White Wonder was the first bootleg I'd ever heard from anyone. On the cheaply packaged double LP, you could hear Dylan singing with The Band on songs such as "I Shall Be Released," "Open the Door Richard," "Too Much of Nothing" and "Tears of Rage." There were also recordings on the LP rumored to be made in a Minneapolis hotel room in 1961. It was all so underground, and it was all so exciting. Pressed up as a double album in an initial run of 1,000 copies by two anonymous L.A. music industry insiders who went by Dub and Ken, Great White Wonder started appearing in record stores in summer 1969, the title gleaned from its plain white jacket, decorated only with a titular stamp. There were 23 tracks on Wonder, subscribing to a sequencing logic that is hard to pin down. Ten cuts were drawn from the "Minnesota Tapes", a collection of American standards Dylan recorded in May and December 1961. "Only a Hobo" and "Bob Dylan's New Orleans Rag" came from 1963 Columbia demos, and "Sitting on a Barbed Wire Fence" and "If You Gotta Go, Go Now" were great-sounding studio outtakes from the Highway 61 sessions. A version of "The Death of Emmitt Till" was pulled from a session with the folk magazine Broadside, and "Living the Blues" was recorded off of the television, from Dylan's May 1969 appearance on "The Johnny Cash Show". Wonder was a grab-bag retrospective of Dylan's career to that point, serving as something of a corrective to his absence and a harbinger of a career that wouldn't continue along the path it had taken for the first half of the decade. In terms of recording quality, these songs were only intended as demos, But the low-fi recordings-- only added to their aura, and to the sense that fans were listening in on a secret meeting between collaborators. "We went in with a sense of humor… It was all a goof," the Band's Robbie Robertson later told Rolling Stone Magazine's Greil Marcus. "We were playing with absolute freedom; we weren't doing anything we thought anybody else would ever hear, as long as we lived. But what started in that basement, what came out of it… came out of this little conspiracy, of us amusing ourselves." This was the nature of a leak in 1969-- a rare glimpse into the backstage life of a superstar. A conspiracy built from a conspiracy. It was the first time that unheard recordings of a superstar's new compositions had leaked to the public, and were being sold. It's easy to take such a thing for granted today, when leaks circulate freely online, but Wonder represented the earliest moment when advancing technologies combined with popular demand and illicit entrepreneurship to create cracks in the record industry's otherwise firm façade. Great White Wonder may be a modern impossibility in its original incarnation, but 40 years later, in a vastly de-industrialized music climate, its ongoing legacy suggests less a digital revolution than the mundane fact that, in the face of innovation, some old habits die hard.

CONDITION: The cover: The thick white gatefold cover with purple block print stamp and three rabbits and flowers block print stamps is rated: VG++ ...the 46 years old artifact is almost always, IF found at all, with dirt and soil to the white cover. This copy has light (age) discoloration starting at far left along spine, bottom seam and on front & back and inside gatefold. Some dealers call this "foxing" ... otherwise the cover is VERY solid, having no bends, no split seams, no writing ... historically valuable and always will be...
The vinyl: both albums, all 4 sides are rated: near "M-"... will play as will as it did when first released nearing 5 decades ago ...all 4 (white) labels are clean
