While, one of the very finest studios, "Fite Record Productions" was teased; and the musicians were to be telephoned about the session that was to take place in April, the Lamb Family were busily preparing to make this album one of the finest recordings ever produced. Alas the time was here! The pianist, the organist, the bass man, the two guitarists, and one of the best engineers in the business, Carl Burkhardt, and oh yes, let's not forget the Lamb Family were ready to make this session a memorable one for all concerned. From the time the first introduction was played until the last song was sung, you could feel a new and versatile sound rarely acquired from a family group. A recording session with the Lamb Family is an appearance within itself. I had set in on the previous recording when one of the musicians had felt what the Lamb Family was singing about, and had to play with tears in his eyes. Once I recall seeing the Lamb Family perform, on stage, and I must say I was more than just impressed. I think the feeling was mutual, because the reaction of the audience was overwhelming. This was the night I especially noticed a tear glimmering under the lights on Darlene's cheek, while at the same time she wore a smile singing, "I Must Tell Jesus." It seems that she was telling Master Jesus whom she sings about in the song, all about the troubles that even the best Christians have to bear. After a performance Darlene usually is so exhausted from putting everything she has in it, that if you were back stage, you probably would hear her say, "I've got to go to the bus and rest; but I'll be back." When a person has sung so hard as to have to rest, I call that TALL singing. Dennis never did so badly that night himself. He always gets to their listening audience by some means. Dennis has often told their audience, "If you could only feel a part of what's in my soul... I won't sing a song I don't feel." And thus far he has done just that because what he feels, you feel. To be only 16, I think he gives more than an ample performance, don't you agree? Then we can't forget the Mommy Lamb of the group, because she has an important factor in the well being of the group. Besides putting her whole soul in singing, Juanita has to keep that big bus going just the way she does her other home. The reason I say, "Other home," is because she has often said, "My God and my singing will always come first." Jim plays an important role also. Perhaps bigger than the rest. He confirms the bookings, negotiates the contracts and makes certain the group is where they're going pronto. It was once said to Jim, "I wouldn't take a million dollars and not know you." I guess this is the way so many people feel about the kind and warm heart of Jim's. I have told you enough about this outstanding family, and what they mean to me. Why don't you dismiss all the cares of the day, pull off your shoes, and see if you can't feel what the Lamb Family is singing about.
