1970 original first pressing vinyl in thick gatefold cover on the famed DERAM records label.
Considered by many to be one of the finest exponents of powerful blues Rock, Keef Hartley's earliest engagement was as replacement for Ringo Starr in Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. He was also Mick Fleetwood's replacement in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and featured on many recordings by the band. In 1968 he formed his own group, recruiting the highly regarded Miller Anderson on guitar and vocals. Although they performed at Woodstock the band was not filmed. The Time is Near ranks among the band's finest achievements.
Start with the dynamic drumming of Keef Hartley himself. Next, they had a talented vocalist/guitarist in Miller Anderson, who was also a very adept lyricist, writing fully six of the seven songs on this album. Along with these ingredients comes the elements that seperated them from many other bands of the era--an astoundingly strong backing section which put them up there with the best of the genre. Songs like "Morning Rain", the splendid title track (which really should have been a hit) and "You Can't Take It With You" are so hook laden and groove with such a distinct, original sound that once they get stuck in your head you'd swear you HAVE heard them on the radio. If you like your blues rock with some meaty kickin' spice pick up this fine varietal LP from a year that gave us an unusually high number of memorable albums. A suprisingly tasty vintage.

CONDITION: The thick gatefold cover is VG++ with a little light shelf wear that was starting and otherwise very solid, no seam splits, no bends and a small hard to see word at very top left corner.
The vinyl is glossy smooth M- with small word on label. Plays outstanding.
