RARE and collectible 1969 first pressing of an interesting garage psych band from Arkansas ... really dig the laid back bubbling psych-edged tracks on side two, surprisingly infectious and much better than expected...Strange and spooky 'weed' drifters. These guys never compromised on this one, securing eternal cult status. And nothing more.
The group, originally called "The Knowbody Else", was formed in 1965 in Black Oak, Arkansas. Their first PA system, they stole from a local high school. Members of the group were subsequently charged in absentia with grand larceny and sentenced to 26 years at the Tucker Prison Farm (this sentence was later suspended.) This led to their retreat to the hills of rural northeast Arkansas where they lived off the land and refined their musical style. Some of their influences during this time were The Beatles and The Byrds.
The Knowbody Else moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1969 and signed a record deal with the small HIP label. Their self-titled debut album, and their only album, was largely ignored by the world, even though it's great which was found out later by garage/psych collectors. During this time the band became interested in psychedelia and Eastern spiritualism which, combined with their Southern Baptist upbringing, contributed to their sound.

CONDITION: The cover is stiff and solid everywhere; the all important front cover is clean and colorful "EX" (excellent) ... the dark back cover with only song titles has light shelf ring wear starting ... there are no seam splits, no bends, no writing ...looks great!
