 THE VISIT from BOB SMITH w ORIGINAL POSTER

Condition: Some ringwear and 2” split along top of gatefold; punch hole cutout; clean vinyl; plays well.  Still has mirror-like sheen on vinyl (look closely and you’ll see me).

Also includes the original Bonus Poster in Very Good+ condition

A double album released in 1970/71 but didn't receive adequate distribution for a considerable period (so it wasn't readily available until late '72).

Despite the title, this is not a solo album. Mr. Smith had a lot of backup that featured members like Don Preston of Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention, and Daryl Dragon of The Dragons. (Daryl worked on various projects with his brothers Doug and Dennis before he found fame and fortune as the 'Captain' in Captain and Tenille.)

This is a classic psych album in every sense: Much of the music is instrumental, achieving a mystical and 'psychedelic' atmosphere, although there are a few more mainstream tracks and some nice bluesy guitar riffs in places and some wah-wah peddling effects. Not gimmicky or wacked-out or anything, just good, solid West Coast psych that still holds up well today.

A must-have double LP with the original poster  if you’re into late 60’s early 70’s psych --- and still hungry for a highly-prized gem from Kent.

This original pressing of THE VISIT (especially with the poster) has $kyrocketed in value in recent years and is a solid investment for the future…

The poster measures 19.5” wide x 21” and is in very good + condition with light mottling on the left side (near fold) and one corner is lightly creased.  I photographed it while it was framed behind Plexiglas and it will be shipped to you folded (as it was originally with the album).

Prior to the Kent album, Bob Smith was with Silverskin, and before that, Lid (not to be confused with The Lyd), who recorded an album in 1968 which remains unissued. Later, he performed in Florida and in 2000 finished a recording, The Visit - Destiny 2000 that he made available on his own Southern Rose label.

SS: Still Sealed: Factory Sealed

Mint: Opened without any conceivable issues (this grade is rarely used)

NM: (Near Mint): Impeccable condition; no issues; record has been opened and might have been played

EX: (Excellent): Minimal signs of use/storage; considered top shelf quality. Jackets may have very light wear; vinyl may have a few sleeve marks only visible in bright light. Sounds full & clear, with minor (if any) background noise from usage.

VG+: (Very Good Plus): A great looking copy with a bit more wear. Jacket may have some ringwear or seamwear. Vinyl may have some light scuffs or scratches, but nothing deep; sounds great with minimal noise.

VG: (Very Good): A great copy but clearly used; Jacket may have splits and wear, but still stable and useful.  Vinyl has hairline scuffs or scratches and plays well within toleration; no skips or warping

Good: Used / worn copy. Cover has tears, splits, writing, or other issues.  Vinyl scuffed or scratched, but still plays well despite audible background noise.

Fair: Doesn’t look or play well; filler copy (just so you have one until you can trade up). 

Poor: Frisbee anyone?
