1970's Algerian Proto-Rai Underground: Boutaiba Schir, Bellemou & Benfissa, Groupe El Azhar & Cheb Zergui, released by Sublime Frequencies (SF045LP) in 2008. Made in the U.S.
*Here you have another fantastic and rare Sublime Frequencies LP, documenting a unique and overlooked period in Rai music in the early-to-mid 1970's. Algerian Rai is rooted in Bedouin music and developed to include some modern instruments in this early 70's period. This brass-based, hard-drivin', raw and soulful Arabic music comes from incredibly rare Algerian 45s by artists who were forced to operate in an "underground" nature due to a suppressive government. This epic, high folk-art is surely unlike anything else you've ever heard, full of intense energy, yelping Saharan back-up vocals, and almost gypsy-like brass blasts. This was a one-time pressing of 1,500 copies, and it almost immediately went out of print. This is a jaw-dropping release of seriously one-of-a-kind music, as you should expect from the great Sublime Frequencies label.*
The Record is in New, Sealed, Perfect condition.

For combined shipping, please add $1 for each additional LP you purchase. If you buy many records from me, I can ship them all together in one box, and charge you the actual cost I pay at the post office.
