Description
An incredibly rare piece of broadcasting history.
This is an original 12" vinyl pressing from the BBC Transcription Service, produced for overseas broadcast in the early 1970s. These records were strictly not for commercial sale and were intended to be destroyed after use, making surviving copies highly scarce.
Topic: HEAT (Educational / Schools Programme)
Tracks include: "What is Heat?", "Measuring Temperature", "How Much Heat?", and "Making Fire".
Expiry Date on Label: 30.11.72
What’s Included:
Original 12" BBC Transcription Vinyl Record
Original "a BBC programme" yellow paper sleeve
Two original typed BBC Continuity/Cue Sheets detailing the announcer scripts, track durations, and writer credits (Nat Taylor, Arnold Rosen).
Item Condition
Vinyl: Excellent visual condition with a bright, glossy sheen. Shows very minimal signs of handling. The iconic green, yellow, and white BBC Transcription Service labels are crisp and clean with no writing or severe spindle wear. (Note: Expiry date printed on the label is 30.11.72).
Continuity Sheets: Two original paper sheets included. They show light, natural aging/yellowing consistent with a vintage paper item, but are fully intact with no major rips, tears, or heavy staining. Text is perfectly legible.
Sleeve: Includes the original yellow BBC card sleeve. It shows some light storage wear and natural aging, but remains solid and functional.
Note to Collectors: Because BBC Transcription discs were intended to be destroyed or returned after their broadcast license expired, surviving copies—especially those with their original continuity paperwork—are incredibly difficult to find. Don't miss the chance to add this rare archival piece to your collection!
