Original 1971 ADVANCE RELEASE PROMOTIONAL 2 LP VINYL
Out of the ashes of "THE BANGOR FLYING CIRCUS" who recorded just one hard psych collectible Lp in 1969 ...The first & best Madura Lp's features a mighty full blastin' sound... CONTAINS A HUGE "MADURA" POSTER!
This is the first album under the "Madura" name, which was essentially just a name change from Bangor Flying Circus (their real first album, so consider MADURA really their second album. "Madura" presents more complex tunes and mini-suites of connected sections. It's solid rock on the complex prog side, but it does rock, with some smoking guitar solos from Al DeCarlo, especially on "Free From the Devil" and Madura's up-tempo, shuffle version of "Johnny B. Goode". Dave "Hawk" Wolinksi, who went on to greater fame provides solid keyboards, and some spiffy arrangements. Ross Salomone rounds out the trio with some high-chops drumming powers.
It's overall it's quite creative, energetic, and exciting music, and its best is very, very good.
