NOTE: eBay has implemented its new FEEDBACK policy to which ANY customer for ANY reason or ANY excuse can give sellers (i.e. "us") negative feedback. Please understand, we have served thousands of "satisfied" customers and processed thousands of orders - far more than our feedback records indicate - It is our intention to give EACH and EVERY buyer our best possible service and we are known to ALWAYS deliver your purchased item. ALL items paid for are processsed 'outbound' to each and EVERY customer, satisfaction guaranteed. Keep in mind we have serviced THOUSANDS of satisfied customers and our aim is to continue to do so.
We make every effort to mail all orders out Friday of each week. Keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two at most. We also strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable.
TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS: We often get requests to hold orders to save on shipping. We are happy to do that. Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and IF YOU REQUEST we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel. To receive continual shipping discounts, we will hold your orders as long as you want, but it is necessary to pay each invoice you receive to stay current. Most importantly, we appreciate your business.
1971 Original VINYL ~ TRIPPY space trio ala Krautrock travellers...
SYRINX
Long Lost Relatives
...Canada - True North - TN X-5
1971 RARE ORIGINALfirst pressing on the old True North label, housed in a Egyptian send-up gatefold cover...these space heads were tripping to the German Krautrock-scene ala early Cluster meets Popol Vuh....
If you enjoy Popol Vuh, Yatha Sidhra, The Third Ear Band, Cluster, Kraftwerk, or Intersystems, you will surely love this!
Often ignored are those Germans - Popol Vuh or Cluster come to mind - who, perhaps because they were unencumbered by the burgeoning rockist protocol of rhythm/chords/solo (rock being a still fairly foreign presence at the time in Europe), coaxed spacy meandering “head music” from their synths. The overlooked Syrinx falls somewhat into this camp.
Syrinx is essentially the brainchild of songwriter/multi-instrumentalist John Mills-Cockell, who had previously helped found the Mind Expansion Centre in Montreal, a sort of free-form art space existent at the end of the 1960s. Syrinx featured John Mills-Cockell on Arp and Moog synthesizers and keyboards (previously of the electro outfit Intersystems), Doug Pringle on guiro, bongos, and bells and Alan Wells on congas, tympanis, gong and tambourine. The odd combination of instrumentation ensured that the band sounded like few others, then or now "Silver Apples", "Tontos Expanding Headband" "Fifty Foot Hose" come to mind. What they did manage to create was an exotic instrumental music that was both melodic and adventurous.
Long Lost Relatives” is the masterpiece of their works: a complete success from beginning to end. The band had expanded the template with their trippy spacey adventures with the addition of a small string section and a choir for vocals on a couple of cuts. The high point is “Tillicum” which is pure moog bliss.
This band was so far ahead of the curve they were long gone over the horizon. Alan Wells' percussion has powerful Middle-Eastern influences, as do some of the scales used. Brilliant, amazing stuff.
Tumblers To The Vault (3:26) Syren (5:57) December Angel (8:58) Ibistix (8:04) Field Hymn (Epiloque) (2:52) Tillicum (1:54) Better Deaf And Dumb From The First (2:54) Aurora Spinray (3:26)
CONDITION: The gatefold cover is pretty clean and very solid, "EX" (excellent) no seam splits, no fraying, no bends, no writing...all in order
The vinyl is all glossy both sides having only some minor superficial scff lines, so visual VG++ but plays superbly better, excellent....
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
