Description
Initial pressings in the year of issue 1971 supposedly had laminated sleeves and later 1971 factory runs had matt sleeves due I presume to resources or cost. This is one of the latter. However, I wouldn't call the sleeve matt (you should see some Vertigos for matt!). Rather, is plain glossy if you get my drift. The single sleeve is solid, square and tight with sharp corners and spine. No rips, seam splits, sticker tears, markings or writing. There is minor age browning, a hint of bottom edge rub, age staining on the rear and an aged water mark on bottom right; see photo 2. Sounds much worse than it is, the card for the sleeve is quite substantial and any 'defect' is essentially cosmetic. I rate the cover minimum 8/10 for condition.
Labels are dark blue background with silver. Decca full frequency stereo sound. On the adjacent run-off grooves the machine etching reads ZAL-10412.P-3D and ZAL-10413.P-3D for the respective sides. The labels are super clean and I really can't see much evidence of the record having been played by way of spindle tracks at the holes, the holes being clean and tight which is nice to see.
On to the vinyl itself which is flat with no dishing and fresh and shiny in appearance. As I say, there is scant evidence of play but under an unforgiving light I see a few handling and scuff marks. This is to be expected for a record of this age and is caused by general handling and removing and replacing the disc (even with a polythene liner in the inner sleeve) over the life of the plastic. I rate the vinyl at worse 8.5 /10.
Finally, the white and blue Decca poly lined inner sleeve is in clean and creased condition.
