In the wee hours of the morning, Janu- ary 19, 1946, the snow was falling on our little log cabin on the forks of Little Pigeon River. Dr. Robert F. Thomas was called to deliver our fourth child—little blonde, blue-eyed Dolly. Dolly was a very beautiful and happy baby and walked and talked very young. She loved to hear singing even as a baby. By the time she was three, she would sing for anyone who asked her. Dolly always loved to please every- one. Those wonderful memories were The Better Part of Life. I remember when Dolly was in high school, she would come downstairs and smile at her Dad, tell him a joke, or sing a song she had made in the night. Working Boots is my favorite on this album. It shows Dolly's concern for her hard-working Daddy. I'm sure she remembers her Dad and me most of all, but Dolly remembers all the good times and the bad times, too. There was never enough money, but we tried to make up for that with love and understanding for them all. I be- lieve love is most important in life and raising children. Dolly loves her family and her TENNESSEE MOUNTAIN HOME very much. Dolly is kind, gentle, loving and under- standing, with a great personality. Her success will never change that in her, I'm sure. We love her dearly. It gives me a great pleasure to have a chance to say a few words about my beautiful daughter, Dolly. Words can't describe the pride and love I have for her. And it's hard to put into words the sincere feelings you have for your children. Dolly has always been full of love, and her singing helps her show it to the whole world. With all her success she has never changed at all. She is just as warm and kind as ever. She loves her TENNESSEE MOUNTAIN HOME where she grew up, and her family and friends are very dear to her heart.
