Description

First UK pressing of The Wailers "Catch A Fire" in original hinged "Zippo" lighter sleeve.

  • Island Records ILPS 9241, with orginal pink rim label.

  • Released:  April 13, 1973.

  • Recorded in Jamaica; mastered at Sterling Sound

  • Produced by Island Records, Basing Street, London. (The Basing Street address is on the rear of the sleeve, under the Island logo. Island Records subsequently moved from Basing Street, and later versions do not have the address.)

  • Matrix / Runout A Side: ILPS 9241A-3U STERLING; B Side: ILPS 9241B-4U STERLING; the original matrices BML 2001 A-3U (Side A) and BML 2001 B-4U (Side B) are also shown, with a line through them. BM stands for Blue Mountain.

  • All songs were written by Bob Marley, except A3 and A4, which were written by Peter Tosh.

  • Tracklist:
    • A1    Concrete Jungle
    • A2    Slave Driver
    • A3    400 Years
    • A4    Stop That Train
    • A5    Baby We've Got A Date (Rock It Baby)

    • B1    Stir It Up
    • B2    Kinky Reggae
    • B3    No More Trouble
    • B4    Midnight Ravers
  • Condition:  Record in excellent, like-new, near-mint condition, with a remarkable clarity and crispness. The hinged album sleeve, which was designed to look a bit distressed, is also in excellent condition, with a couple of tiny scuffs on the surface and faint creases in the corners. The black inner sleeve is trimmed to fit the outer sleeve. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.

  • "Catch A Fire" is The Wailers first album released by Island Records. It is regarded as one of the top reggae albums of all time.

  • This original first pressing is quite rare, especially in such fine condition.
