Description
Original AFRTS Station Library transcription LP RL‑50‑2 featuring Carroll O’Connor performing classic 1920s–1930s standards on Side 1, paired with Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass performing selections from Solid Brass on Side 2. Produced exclusively for U.S. military broadcast use and never sold commercially, these discs were pressed in limited quantities and distributed to bases worldwide. This edition blends crooner‑style vocal performances with upbeat pop‑jazz brass arrangements.
Photo Note: Any circular “ring” visible in images is only a reflection from the ring light used during photography. It is not present on the record or sleeve itself.

VG record / VG sleeve. Vinyl shows strong gloss with multiple dot scuffs and a few short hairlines. Playback reveals typical AFRTS surface noise that is consistent but low‑level, with dot‑scuff‑related rotational noise more noticeable during the quiet spoken‑vocal passages on Side 1. Several faint pops appear across Tracks 2–5, mostly brief and non‑intrusive. Side 2 plays cleaner with only light rotational sleeve scuff noise at the start of Track 1 and a few random pops on Tracks 3 and 4. No skips or tracking issues. Labels are clean with minor ink specks and handwritten “153.” Sleeve is VG with light fading, minimal wrinkles, and no splits. Playback may vary depending on equipment; sold as‑is.
Photo Note: Any circular “ring” visible in images is only a reflection from the ring light used during photography. It is not present on the record or sleeve itself.
Grading Note: AFRTS transcription discs are unique non‑commercial utilitarian pressings, often showing quirks from their service use and occasional factory flaws. These discs commonly exhibit light inherent noise and minor cosmetic anomalies even on clean examples, and they frequently play best on higher‑end equipment.
