Not just the same old X-ian rock sounds, rather something more... out of this world...

SERIOUSLY RARE, 1975 original US PRIVATE PRESS ...outstanding higher key psychedelics in unique refreshing flavors...thoughts of Popol Vuh ("Letzte Tage") meets early Incredible String Band, but even another level up, filled with serene beauty and flowing clear vibes....if this doesn't uplift your mood, then you're dead...

This copy has authentic signatures of the TREES band members on back cover (see photo)

The Trees (Also known as The Trees Community) was a musical group as well as a community.  They started out as disparate individuals who were just looking for the truth. In the summer of 1970 they stumbled upon a semi-abandoned loft in New York City with no locked door and through it, entered a collective life in the service of their music. The language of their service was created through their music played on 80 (mostly exotic) instruments from around the world.

If you were led to this LP by the promise of some slightly mad late 60's acid-folk like the frenetic lost classic by UK group Comus, them move on, because this music is not a joke - and it should not be sneered at. It is absolutely beatific and if your heart is soft and open enough I guarantee you will be greatly enriched by owning this extraordinary music.

The Trees Community were not aimless hippies - though that is how they have tended to be characterised - but a group of very serious intent who came together in faith and expressed that faith in bold musical experiments.

Yes, it is Christian-centred, but expressed through a gamut of 80 instruments from around the world, and with a very late 60's feel.

What gives the music is sinew and muscle is the extraordinary boldness of the collective arrangements. There are so many wonderfully baroque twists and turns - incorporating both soaring choral performances, and such beautifully toned instruments including the exotic Sitar.

What sets this music apart, though, is its purity. You really do feel as if you have stepped into another, higher angelic world. It is that good. If you know your music, imagine a cross between the incredible string band, Faure's requiem, and gamelan music.

Stand-out tracks are the arrangements of various psalms -especially the relatively brief closer to the original album, Psalm 46 which has an absolutely unearthly ending.

I was stunned when i first heard this album. I came to doubt it but instead found a little slice of heaven. I salute that brave little community and its high ideals. Fantastic, memorable, and hauntingly beautiful...

The TREES music is powerful, intricately beautiful and inspiring. Sometimes it was as if thousands of voices were joining and pouring through our own, like several Mellotrons being played at once in different keys, the music liquid, dynamic, ever changing. One night they might travel along a hot, dusty road in Ancient Egypt, with the sounds of donkey’s hooves and clanging pots. Another night they were adrift in a foggy sea, the boat groaning and creaking and a distant bell tolling. The Trees were part of a living, breathing unrehearsed story -- a symphony. The Christ Tree album will shut mouths and open the mind. It feels so good just to receive the blends they weave. The album is indeed a treasure.
