1976 Cedar Walton The Pentagon 1st audiophile direct to disc Japanese East Wind 4*AMG NM

Four stars in the Allmusic guide review for this hard to find first issue that was a direct to disc recording back in the all analogue days 39 years ago. An all star band with Clifford Jordan Sax, and Billy Higgins Drums, Sam Jones Bass and Ray Mantilla Congas to a few tracks, the other big names here. No surface noise, pristine sides and the sound is as if in the room with you through a high end system, my valve phono stage loved this!. Lovely woody tuneful bass to go with that very natural piano sound, ideal balance so all credit to the engineers for their unenviable task of best capturing a live band in the studio, as direct cuttings are. Looks barely played and the sleeve is near mint also. Silent beneath the music surfaces to this, a real audiophile treat.

Record not warped, labels are clean.
