BRAND NEW Still SEALED Original OCTOBER 1977 U.S. ISSUE MCA Records LP, catalog number MCA-3029 The Fabled LP titled 'Street Survivors' from Southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd. This original 'first issue' is packaged inside the ORIGINAL Withdrawn 'FLAME' ALBUM COVER, and should include BOTH ORIGINAL INSERTS, (one of which is very strange given subsequent events and adds to the mystique of this LP).
As the story goes, Skynyrd's 'Street Survivors' LP was released in October 1977, only a couple of weeks before the tragic plane crash on October 20, 1977 which took the lives of band members Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines, and road manager Dean Kilpatrick. The band was on tour, en route to an October 21 concert at Louisiana State University when their plane ran out of fuel and crashed in a swamp near Gillsburg, Mississippi. After the crash, MCA Records decided that the original 'Street Survivors' front cover artwork, (which shows the band standing in the middle of a street engulfed in flames with burning builidings on both sides of them), was in poor taste given the circumstances of the plane crash. MCA Records withdrew the original 'Street Survivors' album cover and replaced it on all subsequent pressings with revised cover artwork that shows the band standing in front of a plain brown background, (Originally the back of the original Album).. As a result, the original 'Flame' album cover, (offered here with the original artwork), was only available for a very few weeks in October of 1977 and has become a Legendary Collectors' Item, inextricably tied in with the story of the band and the plane crash.
To make the album tie-in with the crash even stranger, the first pressings of 'Street Survivors' included two 11" x 11" inserts - One of the inserts included a mail-in offer for a Skynyrd 'SURVIVAL KIT' of various band merchandise and a fan questionnaire to be returned to the band. The spookier insert had the album credits and song titles printed on one side, and a 'TOTS' 1977-1978 Skynyrd tour itinerary printed on the other side. The 'TOTS' itinerary shows that the band had played only four dates on the tour at the time of the crash, and it also shows all of the remaining dates that would never be played. As this LP is STILL SEALED there is no way to know for certain, but both inserts should be in the LP.

As stated above, this LP is STILL SEALED in its original shrinkwrap and is in 100% MINT condition. The Album lies perfectly flat on both sides with no indication of any bends or warps. Shrinkwrap (NOT ALBUM COVER) has several small splits, but the seal is still intact and the album has never been opened.
This rare and legendary NEW SEALED LP has a spooky mystique about it that is unique among collectable records - It is a great conversation piece that is suitable for framing - It will make a super addition to any classic rock record collection, or a great holiday gift item that will certainly be prized by any classic rock record collector !!!
