Description
The Jay Tees were deejay sisters Janet and Teresa Berry, trained as vocalists by Johnny Osbourne and Jennfer Lara, who cut a few singles for Studio One in the early 80s, the best known of which are "A Prayer to Jah" aka "Forward to Jah" and "Come to Me" on the "Rougher Yet" riddim. They never really captured the public imagination as Althia and Donna did, and slipped into obscurity a long time ago, leaving behind a few cracking singles as a legacy. This 45 rides an overdubbed cut of Burning Spear's "Foggy Road", and was released round about 1980-81 if memory serves. It's on a superb Fulton Street NY presssing in excellent condition. The dub on the version side is a killer as well, with Pablove Black's keyboards riding the riddim nicely. This doesn't turn up at auction very often, so have a listen -
