Description
Dick Clark Presents Barry Manilow - A Labor Day Special Presented by Mutual Broadcasting System : If you are a Manilow fan, your collection is not complete without this hard-to-find three record set. This is a special 1981 Labor Day three-hour program narrated by Dick Clark featuring interview snippets with Manilow and many of his full-length songs. The records are in at least VG plus condition. Also with the albums is a seven page "letter" which outlines each program segment and its running time, the commercial breaks, and song titles. The records feature narration by Dick Clark, interviews with Barry Manilow, full-length songs by Manilow, and radio commercials which ran with the program (examples are Ford Lincoln-Mercury, Delco Electronics, K-Mart Records, Tenneco, Stay-Free Maxi Pads, Campbell's V-8 Juice, etc.)
Songs played are Bandstand Boogie Manilow Medley, Ships, The Old Songs, Could It Be Magic, I Made It Through the Rain, Where Are They Now, Something's Coming Up, Ready to Take a Chance Again, New York City Rhythm, Can't Smile Without You, The Last Duet (with Lily Tomlin), A Very Strange Medley, Friends (with Bette Midler), When I Wanted You, Even Now, It's A Miracle, Sing It, I Don't Want to Walk Without You, Mandy, See the Show Again, Somewhere in the Night, Copacabana, Daybreak, Weekend in New England, This One's For You, Tryin' To Get the Feeling Again, Deja Vu (with Dionne Warwick), I'll Never Love This Way Again (with Dionne Warwick), I Write the Songs, Let's Hang On, If I Should Love Again, Looks Like We Made It.
You don't see a lot of these around, primarily because the radio stations were instructed to destroy these records after airplay (see record label close-up), and with storage space being an issue, most of these were destroyed after airplay.
