1983 first issue Decca Sealed from New Of Dutoit & Andras Schiff with the Bayern RSO in the Mendelssohn Piano Ctos SXDL 7623 Sealed New Old Stock, sealed in the shop some time in the 90s.Schiff is already by this time a magnificent pianist, and his reputation has only grown since then, with the view now that his playing back then in the 80s onwards was with the greatness of a musicians musician, not showy but with a transparency in the conveying of the composers intentions with no attempt to impose anything extra of himself. About 20 years ago I bought the complete backroom vinyl stock of a Hi Fi shop that was closing down. These were mainly well reviewed, best sounding classical lps in their full priced versions, many first pressings from the 70s to the 1990s. I am now listing some of the sealed examples for the first time. These were quality control checked in the shop and then sealed in house for eventual sale, and those I have had for myself are all pristine and unmarked, flat and not off centre, playing perfectly, so were not the demonstration stock. They are mainly the late vinyl Decca's, plus some Phillips and EMI, so I have saved the best until last. All the Decca and London exports are pressed in Holland for the Uk and US markets by 1981 or 82, right through to this which is close to the end of vinyl production for UK decca for a long while. The vinyl quality is outstanding and the engineering is by the excellent Stan Goodall to this - who made great Decca Orchestral transfers from the 50s onwards, he knew his stuff!. Gorgeous readings in full spectrum sound.
