Minor Threat was an American hardcore punk band that formed in Washington, D.C. in 1980 and disbanded in 1983. Despite being so short-lived, the band had a strong influence on the hardcore punk music scene. Minor Threat's song "Straight Edge" became the eventual basis of the straight edge movement, while the band often professed their own "straight edge" ideals. Allmusic referred to Minor Threat's music as "iconic," and have noted that their "groundbreaking" music "has held up better than [that of] most of their contemporaries." Along with the fellow Washington DC hardcore band Bad Brains, Minor Threat set the standard for many hardcore punk bands in the 1980s and 1990s. They produced short, often astonishingly fast songs, eventually with high production quality, which at the time was lacking in most punk and alternative rock. All of Minor Threat's records were released on Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson's own Dischord Records label.

Out of Step was the sole 12" LP released by American hardcore punk band Minor Threat. It was first released in April 1983 on Dischord Records. Where the lyrics on their early EPs were an outlet for Ian's "message", the lyrics on Out of Step deal mainly with friendships (or problems associated with them). The original vinyl version of this album is quite different from the one on the Complete Discography compilation; most notably, the guitar on the bridge and Ian's scream at the end of Out of Step are entirely removed from the CD compilation. It was ranked 100 on Pitchfork Media's list of the 100 best albums of the 1980s.

The first pressing had no stripe on the front cover, and a plain black cover. There was 3500 of these made and it sold very quickly.  It was then remastered for the second pressing. The back cover was changed to gray and it contained photos of the band members and the track listing. There was 5000 of these made. The second pressing insert started the “poster” style insert but was on flat, plain (Non-Glossy) paper.

Generally these early 1980’s groundbreaking LP’s are in the same Excellent Condition as when they were first acquired at the store or in the small clubs and local venues the bands first appeared!  We are only here to pass them on so that their music and sentiment will live on!
