Extremely rare 1983 Official Motown in-house certified Platinum sales award for the Lionel Richie album "Can't Slow Down" which was his 2nd studio album and his most successful worldwide - selling over 20 million copies. It was number one album in the UK and US and awarded a Grammy in 1985. Included 5 top ten singles including the clasics "All Night Long" and the iconic "Hello".
This is a Platinum award for sales of more than 1,000,000 copies in the US and has official plaque and plated disc. Awarded to John Burns of MCA in Los Angeles who distributed the albumin the US. The award is glazed in the official black painted frame of its era and made by Dee Jay products who manufactured these items for RIAA.
Due to display and storage the frame has quite a few chips to paint. This is probably due to lack of care by previous owner and also the fact that the frame finish is quite cheap - a thin black matt paint. It can probably bee touched up very easily or repainted in a better finish - may be gloss black, or reframed to suit. Otherwise very good overall. Fair price for rarity of item and condition. Proper (not faked) record industry awards for big name artists do not come up often (and not many with associations to the actual label). Best offer available.
