Description
Extremely rare 1987 Official RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) certified platinum sales award for the Stevie Wonder Motown album "Characters" which was a number one in the US (Number 33 in UK). Included singles "Skeletons" and "Get It" (which was a duet with Michael Jackson). This is a Platinum award for sales of more than 1, 000,000 copies in the US and has official blue backing and hologram. Awarded to a radio station or agency that clearly assisted in the promotion of the album and from a clearance of their offices. The award is glazed in the official black laminated frame of its era and made by Dee Jay products who manufactured these items for Motown/RIAA. Both record and tape on display are plated to look like platinum. Some minor marks and scratches from display and storage to most of item. However, please note that backing boards in black and blue have faded through display as have the labels on record and the copy of the album cover on the plaque. Frame is complete and very sound but black shiny laminate on frame is coming unstuck and lifting so will need to be glued back. At top edge has come away and split (as shown). Both pieces will be enclosed and can be glued back. No need to re-frame unless you desire. Otherwise in good condition. Fair price for rarity of item and condition - Stevie Wonder related awards do not come up often (last one I saw was EIL about 5 years ago for over £350). Best offer available.
