1ST PLATINUM BLONDE SINGLE KBD TORONTO PUNK (RARE) NR Up for auction is a RARE 7” copy of the 1st single (45 rpm) by Canada’s PLATINUM BLONDE – Toronto Punk. Released in approx. 1980 on their own independent label (pressed by World Record Corporation # WRC3-1215), it features the tracks Hey, Hey, You (Side 1) and No Regrets (Side A). This was the band’s only independent punk-oriented release prior to becoming a pretty-boy pop/hair band and signing with CBS Records of Canada. The band featured on this record is: Mark Holmes (guitar, vocals), Joey Ciotti (bass, vocals) and Ray Bailie (drums). Only Mark Holmes remained from the original line-up to record the band’s Standing In The Dark debut LP. To the best of my recollection, only 500 copies of this single were manufactured. The single is unfortunately only in FAIR Playing Condition. There are some scratches and marks on the vinyl which gives way to surface noise (pops, crackling, but no skipping). The record would likely benefit in sound quality from a good cleaning but I think that some if not most of the surface noise would remain. The record is definitely listenable but it is not of the best sound quality. I would have to say that the record’s playing quality is only a 4 or 5 out of 10. If you are looking for a perfect copy of this recording then this won’t be the one for you. That said, it is a difficult record to find and I’m sure that it will still make a nice addition to someone’s collection. The record comes in its original black and white picture sleeve. It shows signs of wear in the form of light creasing and some age discoloration. As noted on the picture sleeve – “To Be Played at Maximum Volume.” Due to the fact that the sound quality is not the best, I am selling this record “as is.” In spite of my criticism of the sound quality, I think you'll still enjoy listening to this record.
