The double album features unreleased/alternate versions of classic Anarcho songs by: Crass, The Mob & The Apostles plus other tracks professionally remastered from original studio recordings by Zounds, Honey Bane, Annie Anxiety, Andy T, Flux Of Pink Indians , Poison Girls, Alternative, Lack of Knowledge, Hagar the Womb, Chumbawamba, The Ex + Alternative TV 
“Cease & Resist - Sonic Subversion & Anarcho Punk In The UK 1979 - 86”, a double vinyl compilation of some of the most radical music ever made, a musical force that changed lives. The compilation shows there was another side to Anarcho Punk than just a one chord thrash. Sure there is some of that featured (and it is wonderful, sounding as great as it ever did), but there is also some wildly original musical explorations going on. It’s not possible to announce the full tracklisting yet but the release does include classic tracks from Crass, Poison Girls, Flux Of Pink Indians, The Mob, Zounds, Annie Anxiety, The Ex, ATV plus 10 more, all newly remastered by iconic Punk mastering engineer Daniel Husayn. This is a high quality double vinyl Test Pressing pressed at Optimal in Germany. 
ONLY FIFTEEN COPIES OF THESE TEST PRESSINGS WERE EVER MANUFACTURED AND WERE GIVEN TO THE MEMBERS OF CRASS AND FLUX OF PINK INDIANS INVOLVED WITH THE RELEASE PLUS OTHER MEMBERS OF ACTS FEATURED. I WAS ONE OF THE TWO COMPILERS OF THIS ALBUM AND THIS IS MY OWN PERSONAL COPY.
PLEASE NOTE: this auction is for the 2 x LP vinyl record white labels in generic white sleeve (see picture). The completed version of this album was released in May 2023 and the vinyl edition sold out in record time and will NEVER be reissued in honour of Keith (JD Twitch) of Optimo's memory. The following is from Louder Than War's comprehensive review of the album by Nathan Brown: Apparently this album has been 10 years in the making –
longer than the period of time it covers! One might ask, with the raft of
re-releases and retrospectives doing the rounds, and the availbilty of online
playlists, whether we need yet another backwards look at radical music when
there is so much new music continuing to push the anarcho-punk message in a
global counter cultural movement? The compilers acknowledge the continuation of
the movement when they say “Anarcho Punk represented one of the last truly
underground and autonomous music movements ever witnessed and remains a
movement that has never sold out and has never gone away.”  There are rumblings of “sell out” regarding
the pricing of current re-issues of Crass Records releases on One Little
Independent and Mortarhate Records releases on Cherry Red, even though both are
independent labels.   The movement
itself, though, is still thriving in a way that avoids the music industry and
while individual record sales are not what they were in the heady days of Crass
hitting the charts, the international anarcho punk movement is now further reaching
then it ever has been.

Cease & Resist doesn’t always go for the obvious angry
shouty polemic punk sound. Diversity and inventiveness is the appeal, as the
phrase Sonic Subversion suggests. Alongside the polemic messaging of the likes
of Alternative, Poison Girls and Crass, some of the more esoteric and arguably
challenging outsider artists associated with anarcho-punk are featured. Annie
Anxiety’s horror movie soundtrack, the gothic sounds of Lack of Knowledge, the
rhythm based approach of D&V, the pre-techno synths of The Hit Parade, the
unpredictability of The Cravats: none of them follows a “punk” template.

This makes Cease & Resist quite a refreshing take on
this most counter of conter cultures. The full listing of 18 songs features
below – technically 19 if you count the fact that Flux of Pink Indians’ Tube
Disasters also includes the preceding poem Neu Smell. Purists may argue an
appearance from Alternative TV doesn’t fit the anarcho punk label but they had
a profoundly DIY aesthetic and found common cause with counter cultural
hippies, as did Crass, Zounds and The Mob. 
And The Ex were not a UK band, but when did anarcho punks care about
national borders, eh?

Of special interest will be the previously unavailable
alternative versions of songs. Crass’s Bloody Revolutions central theme is
unchanged but has a noticeably different feel to the guitars and includes a
snatch of the Thatchergate tapes. The version of No Doves Fly Here by The Mob
is the original recording. This is how the song sounded before Penny Rimbaud
really got to work with the synthesizers on the version that everyone knows, as
released on the Crass Records single. It is perhaps the jewel in this record’s
crown (not that anarcho punks approve of crowns of course, fuck monarchy) given
that reputedly only 2 copies of this mix were ever cut (Mark Wilson of The Mob
quoted in The Day The Country Died by Ian Glasper). The extended version of Mob
Violence by The Apostles will definitely be of interest to die hard fans of The
Apostles, a band with definite cult status, but probably a challenge to anyone
not into anarcho experimentation.

As is par for the course with retrospectives and
re-releases, the record has been remastered to give all the songs extra
vibrancy. In this case the work has been done by Daniel Husayn who has become
something of a go-to for the current DIY punk scene, and he has done a fine
job. To quote Chris Low, one of the compilers “The remastering job is so
incredible it’s like seeing a new colour when listening, no matter how well you
know the tracks!”.

Optimo Music is a Glasgow based label that is usually more
focused on dance music, operated by JD Twitch, a DJ, artist and music promoter.
He is also active raising funds and awareness for various anti-racist
organisations & local Glasgow food banks. Twitch and fellow compiler Chris
Low (drummer for anarcho bands The Apostles, Oi Polloi, Political Asylum and
Part 1) met as DJs through the techno scene in Edinburgh back in the 1980s. It
was their shared love of Anarcho Punk – which has oft been cited as a formative
influence by activists in the rave scene – that led to the curation of this
double LP. They want to celebrate this counter-cultural music phenomenom that
changed lives. Not just theirs but those of thousands of others, myself
included.
