PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. HARD BLASTIN' GRITTY TEXAN GUITAR TRIO
..
~ STRAY DOG ~
USA - Manticore - 66671
Original 1973 first pressing with grainy embossed cover and photo insert
The mighty STRAY DOG is a powerhouse guitar trio from the cool old early '70s sound. The band made just two records, this first one is far and away their best...
We won't go as far as calling it a lost masterpiece, but will say that this was a pretty amazing first album. Hard rock with an accessible edge ... most bands would have killed to have released something nearly as good. Stray Dog were a trio, two Texas boys and a UK cat. You know these dudes were the real deal by the long hair an' bowties shown on the photo on the back cover of the album. You jus' know we're gonna take a wild blues-rock ride with a healthy dose of Texas whacko".
"Fasten your seat belts" warns the start up and away the boys blast off on the opening track, "Tramp (How it is)"...."Baby, I'm just a Texas boy..."Livin' outta a suitcase makes a man fat "n" sassy". The wah-wah infected riff-rocker "Crazy" follows. Guitar solos your mom would die for. An' the rhythm section rocks, too. They don't make hard rock Lps like this any more. These dudes cover ZZ Top's "Chevrolet", an' make it a road monster with a nice dose of cowbell. They steal Dusty Hill's chick an' drink his Primo, too! Man, you can jus' taste that west Texas dust. "I woke-up this mornin' an' my woman gave me some sass...An' I jumped in my Chevy an' gave her some gas!" ..."Oooooo", squealed the blond. "Killer blues/psych riff and vocals on "Slave". Four of the tracks on this release are instantly collection worthy, an' the others are damn good, also".
Stray Dog is a classic American hard rock album worth every bit of the hunt, guitarist Snuffy Walden was a spectacular Hendrix-influenced guitarist who managed to pull a unique, watery sound out of his instrument (he was picked to replace Paul Kossoff in Free). There's hardly a song here that doesn't showcase a first-rate Walden leads. He also had a surprisingly enjoyable voice.
