A VERY NICE FILLER AT THE VERY LEAST

This album was The Beatles FIRST release on the now famous Apple label. It was entered into the charts on the 7th of December 1968 and went straight to number one-where it stayed for 7 weeks! Making it the FIRST double album to get the top slot...EVER!

The rather unusual fact about this album is that it was the first release by The Beatles which contained only SOLO material.

By the time 1970 ended, the total sales of this wonderful album were estimated to be 6.5 Million! However...get this...The only other album that beat this a few years later was "Saturday Night fever" !!!

After giving her a gentle vacuum clean, I played through both sides-at volume.

I was not disappointed with the audio playback! The audio blasted out with force and clarity...There was VERY LITTLE background noise at all-certainly nothing offensive. I did, however notice multiple skips at the start of Martha My Dear, which could perhaps play over with a less sensitive needle than mine..?.. there was a micro skip on one other track-which I can’t remember as it was so insignificant.

Both discs remain lovely and clear, with wondeful deep troughs and high, crisp peaks....I have recorded a clip of the quiet Mother Natures Son to show off this tracks utter clarity.

However-both vinyls do carry light marks to the vinyls.

The Labels:

All four of the labels are extremely bright and with the DARKER apple.

Each have the 1st press: "SOLD IN THE UK..." statements.

Sides 3&4 DO NOT have the “An EMI Recording” text (which shows in their incredibly early Mothers and Stampers.

There are many light spindle marks to each label, these can really only be seen when angling towards the light....As well as a name to each side-please see the detailed images for yourselves.

It is an the very first printing run, with TOP loading and a creamy finish (rather than the later brilliant white editions).

Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold.

The spine remains strong.

There is some slight knocking/rubbing to the bottom right corner on the front.

Superb cover-creamy white, with just a handful of small crescents of spidering.

She really is ready for play and then display!

Correct MONO cover as it doesn't have the printing of Stereo to the back top right.

GLORIOUS and clean on the inside of the gatefold.

Two (Ringo & Lennon) have a small pin-hole...Which was quite typical for the Beatles fans to pin their beau's up on their bedroom wall. With some small amounts of what appears to be tape residue near a few of the corners-not all corners.
