Roll up, roll up all ye Beatles fans....

This was The Beatles' eleventh official album release and interestingly enough, the first album of theirs to included non-Beatles material. Released, after a delay, in mid January 1969, the album made it up the UK charts to the 3rd position....With The Beatles' 'White' album denying it the top slot.

There were only modest sales-in comparison with other Beatles releases-as the sales were around 800,000 within the first three months, but it did go over the 1 million sales mark by the end of the year. This could have had something to do with the album having only four original tracks and the rest was George Martin's film score.

As a little bit of interesting trivia: Did you know the orchestral pieces from side 2 of this album were used in the NASA Apollo 9 mission films..?

There are only light marks to this glorious heavyweight slab of vinyl, but a lot of them.

After giving her a gentle professional vacuum clean, followed by a nice long Ultrasonic bath-I have just played her all the way through and found a simply superb deep and rich sound reproduction.

Occasional light and soft background noise, nothing offensive at all...I have included a clip of the much softer side 2, to illustrate how lovely this slab of vinyl sounds. BUT:

NO JUMPS OR SKIPS on my deck, with a light arm setting.

I did find some revolutionary light background crackle on tracks 2 and 3 of side 2-but even though it is noticeable, it wasn’t jarring at all.

Flat, heavy, all original and in glorious MONO!

She has the all important statement "Sold in the U.K...." showing it is a first press as well as "Mfd. in U.K." & 33 1/3 to the extreme left.

All showing this to be the

Nice dark apple, rather than the later lighter ones.

Only light spindle marks, which are only visible when angled towards the light.

THIS VINYL REPRESENTS EXACTLY HOW THE BEATLES WANTED YOU TO HEAR THIS ICONIC ALBUM.

It is the original cover VERY 1st printing cover-WITHOUT THE GARROD AND LOFTHOUSE STATEMENT TO THE FLIPBACK.

(Most you see have the Garrod & Lofthouse statement to the back)

Also:

Has the two red lines above and below the text to the back. The back card has only VERY slight discolouration as can be seen in the detailed images provided.

The flipbacks are in wonderfully strong condition, with the lovely rounded edges, with some light discolouration to cream.

The cover is the early cream cover, rather than the next printing of more white and darker grey for the 'hill' on which The Beatles are standing.

Only very light knocks/rubbing to the corners.

There are a few small crescents and lines of spidering to the laminate, with some tiny fingers of spidering emanating from the seams.

There is a small name to the back card-as can be seen in the detailed images provided.

Excellently strong LEGIBLE spine.

Really is a display piece.

Inner:

VG.

It is the ORIGINAL black die-cut inner with the window to one side.

It is in great solid condition, but does carry small splits to each side.

However, it is all ORIGINAL and it really has survived well as I rarely see these ORIGINAL BLACK INNERS in such good condition.

All in all it is a VERY rare, VERY first pressing of a wonderful album. She is one heck of a rare beauty!
