This album was The Beatles FIRST release on the now famous Apple label. It was entered into the charts on the 7th of December 1968 and went straight to number one-where it stayed for 7 weeks! Making it the FIRST double album to get the top slot...EVER!
The rather unusual fact about this album is that it was the first release by The Beatles which contained only SOLO material.
By the time 1970 ended, the total sales of this wonderful album were estimated to be 6.5 Million! However...get this...The only other album that beat this a few years later was "Saturday Night fever" !!!

The Vinyl:

VGAfter giving her a gentle vacuum clean, I played through both sides-at volume.
I was not disappointed wth the audio playback-other than some background distortion on the peaks of playback from disc 1...Maybe this will disappear with a more thorough clean as the disc doesn't carry many marks to her at all..strange..
Disc 2 is lovely and clear, with wondeful deep troughs and high, crisp peaks.
Both vinyls carry just very light, marks to the vinyls...Right near the end of side 4 there was a tniy skip, just after Lennon saying about the Watusi...Didn't affect my enjoyment and will possibly play over with a slightly heavier stylus than mine...

The Labels:

The rarer embossed KT tax code is visible to the side 1 label....This album didn't produce many labels with a sales tax code.
 All four of the labels are extremely bright and clean with the DARKER apple.
Each have the 1st press: "SOLD IN THE UK..." statements.

*Disc 2 DOES NOT have the "AN EMI RECORDING" text*

There are only a handful of very light spindle marks to each label, these can only be seen when angling towards the light....And particularly looking for them !
VERY NICE!!
Next to NO HOLE WEAR at all!

The Cover:

NUMBERED: 0042605 It is an the very first printing run, with TOP loading and a creamy finish (rather than the later brilliant white editions).
 Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold.
The spine remains strong.
There is some knocking/rubbing to the corners.
Superb cover-creamy white, with just a line of spidering near the opening and a handful of small crescents of spidering.
NO SPLITS
NO WRITING
Strangely there appear to be lighter and darker lines of cream to the cover-this is NOT from fading but appears to have been done in the manufacturing of this cover...Not particularly visible on first glance.
She really is ready for play and then display!

Correct MONO cover as it doesn't have the printing of  Stereo to the back top right.
GLORIOUS and clean on the inside of the gatefold.
(Please see the detailed pictures for yourself-it really is lovely).
AGAIN, I AM BEING INCREDIBLY CRITICAL!!!

They are FANTASTIC AND ORIGINAL.
They DON'T have any pin-holes around their edges...Which was quite typical for the Beatles fans to pin their beau's up on their bedroom wall.
Just a light crease to the tope left of Paul, but not over his face :)
