1st STAMPER:
ENCORE, BYRON JANIS -
Mercury Living Presence SR-90305 -
RFR1/RFR2 -
BEST & VERY RARE!
One of the rarest Mercury releases, this was indeed the first recording ever done by Americans on location in the Soviet Union. In fact, of the pieces here included, most were recorded by Janis in Moscow at Bolshoi Hall, while three of the pieces were later captured in NYC by Wilma Cozart and Bob Fine.
Selections include Liszt HUNGARIAN RHAPSODY No. 6, VALSE OUBLIEE, and SONETTO DEL PETRARCO, Schumann ROMANCE IN F SHARP and NOVELETTE IN F MAJOR, Falla THE MILLER'S DANCE, Guion THE HARMONICA PLAYER, Mendelssohn SONG WITHOUT WORDS, Chopin ETUDE IN F MAJOR and WALTZ IN A MINOR, plus Pinto THREE SCENES FROM CHILDHOOD.
A rare bird, in a cover without fault, just has an ink note on back. Inside is an original first stamper in NM- to VG+ playing condition.
A highly respected classic in the early Mercury Living Presence vinyl catalog.
For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.
Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $14 via airmail for the first LP, $4 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
