Two wonderful Christmas 78s by Bing Crosby:


White Christmas / God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen

Silent Night / Adeste Fideles

Silent Night is in excellent condition, with some very light marks and superficial scuffs, but it plays absolutely beautifully. The other disc is similarly excellent on the White Christmas side (except the slightly rubbed label), which sounds fantastic, but there is a bad dig at the beginning of God Rest Ye. I played it on two players, and on one it just makes a loud thump for a few spins, while on the other the needle skips. After the dig passes it plays fine, but I suppose I have to admit the song is basically ruined. In any case three of the four sides play just beautifully. So wonderful to listen to these classics on period 78 records. A completely different experience from a miserable CD...
