Description
These are two American 33.3 RPM Long Playing Records titled "NEGRO FOLK MUSIC OF ALABAMA - Volumes Five and Six. Label / Numbers are Ethnic Folkways FE 473 and FE 474. Two terrific LPs from the great Folkways label. Volume Five is called "Spirituals" and features the singing of Dock Reed and Vera Hall Ward. Selections include "I'm Going Home On The Morning Train", "My God Ain't No Lying Man" "Troubled Lord I'm Troubled"and "I'm Climbing Up The Hills Of Mt. Zion". Volume Six is called "Ring Game Songs And Others" and features School Children singing such Game Songs as "Mary Mack", "Bob A 'Needle", "Old Lady Sally Wants To Jump" and "Green Green Rocky Road". There are also Work Songs, Chain Gang Songs and Others featuring such vocalists as Celina Lewis and Willie Turner. All of the selections were recorded in Alabama by Harold Courlander. There is a Booklet that covers both Volumes included. Records have a few light scuffs and occasional minor surface noise, but play well with good fidelity. Labels have light wear. Covers have some wear, scuffs and light foxing. Condition is: Records - VG++ Labels - VG++ Covers - VG+(+) A First Rate Item.
