Description

The super rare Led Zeppelin II Robert Ludwig hot pressing run at Sterling Sound (run out marking RL SS on both sides. The holy grail of collectible vinyl albums. The record has probably not been played many times in the past 40 years. When it was new it was clearly used and the album cover, sleeves and record itself has not been cared for as a collectible. I bought it on eBay a few years back. It has some wear and tear on it. It has some light scratches that cause slight audible disruptions, I don't know what else to call them. I just listened to it, hence the price increase. I heard two slight skips on my my modestly priced audio-technica (AT-LP 120-USB) turntable. But I also heard some other things! In terms of the musical quality, the clarity and the distinction of the highs and the lows it is in parts unimpressive (10%-15%) However, there are good chunks (85%-90%) of each song that give you an understanding of why some people pay $1,000 for the best of the best of this exact record. I have been a huge fan of Led Zeppelin since I was 15, which has been over 30 years now. So before I listened to this specific record I had listened to each song on this album dozens if not hundreds of times. I was very surprised at what I heard that first time. The good parts truly sound like different songs. I mean clearly you know it's Heartbreaker, but you hear so much more than what you've heard in the past, from every instrument including the vocals, it simply soars above and beyond what you've ever heard before. Unless you've already listened to one of the SS Sterling Sound mixes. Like I said it is definitely used. It also could use a professional cleaning. I have a feeling doing that would increase the portion of this record that is clearly unique sounding. But, it's something you should hear if you're a Zeppelin fan. In addition to the album run at Sterling Sound I have a 2nd album with RL on both sides. This is still one of the 200,000 original legendary pressings.
